Aspen Lass another listed winner
13 November 2017

Aspen Lass (Alamosa x Tief) has taken out the Listed Metropolitan Trophy, a traditional lead-up race to the New Zealand Cup. I bought the mare (shown here as a yearling) at Ready to Run for $25,000 on behalf of Graeme and Leah Causer. Well done to the two of you, I’m wrapped! After the race Graeme told reporters, “This is our first horse. She didn’t cost a lot. It just goes to show that you can have some big thrills with the cheaper horses.”

Half-sister to Caulfield Guineas winner for sale

Did you see Mighty Boss (Not A Single Doubt) take out the Caulfield Guineas at 80-1! A great result for the lucky few punters who were on it, and an even better result for my Victorian client who owns the half-sister by Declaration of War. I bought the filly from Coolmore for the princely sum of $21,000 at the Sydney Weanling Sale. BOBS eligible, she’ll go through the ring again at the Sydney Easter Sale. Bullion Mansion, a $625,000 purchase at the 2007 Easter Yearling sale, is a sister to Polska, the dam of Group II winners Catch A Fire and Seaburge. Polksa herself sold for $1.6 million as a broodmare so it's a valuable family.

Doomben treble makes for good weekend

A good weekend all up, with three winners at Doomben. Hopfgarten (Mossman x Black Tourmaline) won his twelfth race, No Annamossity (Mossman x Hussyana), a three-quarter brother to Buffering, won over a mile, and Zofonic Dancer (Zoffany x Goddess of Wisdom) (photo above) won the race for three-year olds to make it three from three.

First two-year old winner of the season

Pony Power (Foxwedge x Lonoree) won the first two-year old race of the season in Brisbane today. The filly, which cost $100,000 at Magic Millions, is my first winner for the owner, Steve Payne, so I'm very happy. Lonoree is a Lonhro mare closely related to the good producer, Denise's Joy. After the race trainer Chris Munce said, "She picked up $40,000 today so it takes a lot of the pressure off us to qualify for the Millions. I can pick and choose the right races for her from here on in. I liked the way she hit the line and she got very close to 33 seconds for her final 600m."

Good run continues for the Duncans

Pinch Passion (Denman x Valentine Rose) has won for the second time in four days. On the quick backup from Wednesday’s meeting at Ipswich, the three-year old won well over 1600m at the Sunshine Coast. The win continues the great run of owners Angie and Neal Duncan in the last 12 months. I bought Pinch Passion at Magic Millions for $70,000 (pictured here as a weanling).

Ingeegoodbe makes it 4 on end
16 September 2017

Ingeegoodbe (Domesday x Magic Summer) won its fourth race in a row at Doomben on Saturday. A $41,000 purchase at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in 2014 (pictured), the gelding has now won six of 19 starts for owners Angie and Neil Duncan who also race Pinch River and Bidii Babe.

Three city winners on Saturday
30 July 2017
Every Faith

A good day at the office today with three city winners - one at Caulfield and two at Doomben. Every Faith (Not a Single Doubt x Zephyria) (photo above) kicked the day off with a win that took the mare’s earnings past the $400,000-mark. Closely followed by Stellarcraft (Starcraft x Alborada), which recorded the fifth win of its career. And Ingeegoodbe (Domesday x Magic Summer), another gelding, notching up win number three.
