Ingeegoodbe makes it 4 on end
16 September 2017

Ingeegoodbe (Domesday x Magic Summer) won its fourth race in a row at Doomben on Saturday. A $41,000 purchase at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in 2014 (pictured), the gelding has now won six of 19 starts for owners Angie and Neil Duncan who also race Pinch River and Bidii Babe.

Three city winners on Saturday

Every Faith

A good day at the office today with three city winners - one at Caulfield and two at Doomben. Every Faith (Not a Single Doubt x Zephyria) (photo above) kicked the day off with a win that took the mare’s earnings past the $400,000-mark. Closely followed by Stellarcraft (Starcraft x Alborada), which recorded the fifth win of its career. And Ingeegoodbe (Domesday x Magic Summer), another gelding, notching up win number three.

Half to Rangipo wins again
30 June 2017

Rangipo’s little half-sister Arohata (High Chaparral x Holloway) took another step toward city racing when winning for the second time at Geelong, today. Connections are now looking at a 2000m three-year-old race in two weeks and another in four with the filly. Jockey Luke Nolen said, “She’s got more upside than all those but she’s still working her craft out. It was pleasing to see her rise in grade and still win nicely today. She’s got a bright future.”

Nice win by filly from nice mare

Smart Coupe

Smart Coupe (Smart Missile x Coupe), bought for $22,000 at the Tasmanian sale, scored convincingly at Wangaratta today for the First Light Racing team. The filly is the ninth foal of the Edward Manifold Stakes winner Coupe, which also ran fifth in a Blue Diamond. “Wrapped with that run” said co-trainer Simon Zahra. “I was most impressed by the way she finished off the 1100m. They ran quicker time than the Benchmark 70 later that day so a lot of merit to her effort.”

Another Real Saga for FLR

Weekend Saga

Weekend Saga (Real Saga x Weekend Surprise), a $25,000 purchase from Magic Millions, won on at the Gold Coast today. The filly is First Light Racing’s third winner by the sire, which has also left VRC Derby runner Epic Saga, and two-time winner Sir Sagamore. After the race jockey James Orman said, "Very nice filly on the up. Still very green and doing a few things wrong but will improve off that today. She will be much better on top of the ground."

First win for Star Thoroughbreds
18 January 2017

Derasa (Squamosa x Jesting) scored an emphatic win in the first ‘big’ 2yo race of the season in Tasmania today. The promising filly was my first ever purchase for Denise Martin and Star Thoroughbreds. Squamosa, which raced in the same colours, ran second in a Golden Rose and now stands for $6,000 at stud in Victoria. Trainer Barry Campbell will now head toward the $100,000 Elwick Stakes on Hobart Cup day and the Gold Sovereign in Launceston.

Imposing Lass dominant in Group 3
13 January 2017

Imposing Lass (Makfi x Imposingly) took out the Group 3 Belle Of The Turf Stakes at Gosford today. Surprisingly backed and beaten in a four-horse field the start before, the former Queensland Oaks favourite showed a smart turn of foot on the better going to win in race record time. Well done to connections and Jason Collett, who had her perfectly placed in the one-one throughout. That’s a 50% win record and close to $300,000 in prize money for the mare now.
